Re: Gearshift
I thought the same thing coming from a H-D with a heel/Toe and boards or my other one with foreward controls. It takes a little getting used to kicking that toe way out there to get it under that little peg. It gets easier in time though.

Re: Gearshift
I have a 94 1500SE and feel like I have plenty of room. Wondering if a previous owner did some work and changed the position of the gear shift pedal. It may also have something to do with your choice of footwear, for example steel toed construction boots versus normal riding boots.

- as an FYI I can't see the punchmark on my pedal. The key is to look at the splint and try and shift manually before tightening things up.

Re: Gearshift
When I got my new riding boots, I had to “readjust” my foot position to shift. They have thicker reinforcement in the shifter area and now I hang my heel on the peg and roll my foot under the shifter. Got used to it after about 200-300 miles.
As Doug pointed out, I would also check the shifter position.
