Low radio volume GL1500 solved

Post by OldFisherman »

From what I have read, this seems to be a problem with the 1500, I too was having a problem with low radio volume, almost like was on mute, cassette not opening. I know it wasn't the mute switch, checked the fuse #13 still good, voltage good coming out of box OK. So check voltage on pin #30 (Red wire yellow stripe) at harness where plugs into radio, only reading less than a volt.
So light bulb goes off in my head need to start looking further back to where the voltage is good, about 9" back there is a bulge in the harness, figure good place to cut off the tape, well found the problem there is a bunch of wire crimps, ( I assume the are filters) and the wire was out of the connector, hooked jumper between wire and radio back to normal, after some work got connector apart and wire back in the crimps, bunch of tape and all is good in radio, cassette function all buttons work.
I hope this info might help somebody else.
