Not to my understanding. The lcd assembly is 2 parts. One is the clock and the other the interface to the radio.
The clock must have ground, continuous 12 volts for memory(same for the radio) and switched volts to turn the display on and off.

According to the wiring diagram the backup voltage from fuse #13 goes to the radio and cassette player.
And a black wire from the radio and cassette player goes to the clock of the LCD.

Depends on which model you have. The Interstate has the clock in the radio face so I think it may have a common power point. But, the Aspencade and SE both have the clock in the instrument panel which would have a separate power point although, they could be powered from the same relay or fuse.

Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing it.

I have had my bike powered up with the radio REMOVED, and the clock still comes on, so it's definitely not powered by the radio.
