gas running out of plastic tube

Post by outlaw41 »

My 88 wing had set for a few years and now that I can ride again it runs good but, gas is coming out of one of the tubes coming down the left side of engine. It seems like too much leakage to be safe. Should I try to ride it and hit some bumps (no problem here in WV ) to see if it will jar something loose ? Thanks for any help

Sounds like a particle or something stuck in the needle/seat for a carb float. You could try disconnecting the vacuum from the fuel petcock and run the engine until the carbs are out of gas. That would drop the floats and open the needle valve. With petcock vacuum reconnected the fuel flow might flush whatever isn't letting the needle valve seal.

I'd definitely consider adding a double-dose of Seafoam to the fuel!

I have already put the Sea Foam to it and I ordered a Cockpit kit before reading your response. I will try doing what you said and run it out of gas.
Thank You
