One Progressive shock 450

Post by Engel6264 » Sun Jun 02, 2019 9:16 pm

What do we know about the Progressive Shock 450? Back in 2003 at a Wing Ding they put one on my bike and also the front. There are those that believe I do not have such a singular shock. If there is anyone familiar and would like to enlighten me please do.

What is it you need to know about it? Yes, it is a single shock but you still have the level control shock assembly on the right side of the swing arm I am sure.

The Progressive Suspensions 450 IAS Shock is a single shock that goes on the left. The right "shock" is really just an air bag that controls the height of the rear of the bike.

I had one on my '99 that I sold. It needed to be rebuilt due to oil leakage in 2007 after 108,000 miles of use. It was covered under the Lifetime warranty.
The 450 IAS is no longer manufactured. I have one on my '98 Aspencade. I installed it in 2004. I've put 176,000 miles on the bike since then. No issues.

Mike may I ask if you have a picture of the shock or next time when you have the bags off would you please take a picture of it.
What happened was the previous owner had gone to 2003 Wingding and had the Progressive springs put on the front forks and also the rear but a lot of people believe that there is only a stock shock on here.

The picture you provided makes it pretty hard to tell what shock you have on the left side. The shock on the right does look to be stock.

I'm not sure exactly what it is that you are trying to find out but I think you are asking if someone can identify if you do have a 450 shock installed.

Look at the picture below. I took a picture of a Progressive 450 and a stock shock side by side.
You should be able to identify the shock on your bike by the picture if it is a 450 or not.
The 450 is on the left.

No problem. I had them in a box in my parts area. All I had to do was take them out of the box and photograph them.
