Hello friends I just wonder if any of you advice or suggest any of your thought before I go for the final deal. The bike has been stored for the last 26 year plus after the first owners who imported it from the USA has passed away and it looks wonderful except quiet a few spit of some rust on the rear frame here and there which can be easily dealt with.I have moved to Australia and sold all my bikes & need a bike that can stay for a while hope fully my last one until I retire God willing. The new owner has done the following
1.New Tyre front and rear
2.Fork seals changed ( I don't know why )
3.All fluids changed
4.New Fuel tank

Bless you all.

I would absolutely avoid starting or running it, even cranking the engine over, until the timing belts have been changed. With only 2,000 miles in 28 years, those belts will be scrap. And when (not if) they go, your engine will be scrap, too. Change them first!

And after you change the belts, turn the motor over by hand. Put a socket wrench on the crank bolt to turn it over. One of my first bikes sat for a long time. One of the valves stuck in the open position when I was turning it over by hand. If I would have used the starter, that valve would have been toast.

In addition to great care in getting it turned over with no interference and the timing belt (both critical), check the dates on the tires. Anything over 5 years is dangerous.

It is going to take quite a bit of cranking to get the carbs filled and fuel lines full. Don't put a lot of fuel in to begin with and when you do add a bunch of Sea Foam or Techron or some other heavy duty carb cleaner. The carbs are going to be dirty and gummed up. If you are lucky the cleaners will fix things up. Watch carefully after starting for leaks. I found a GL1200 that was 25 years old. Clean tank, lines and filter. However the carbs finally had to be pulled and totally cleaned and rebuilt. Shellaced everywhere. Gaskets dried and cracked causing leaks and fuel line going into the carbs so old that they were leaking at the very end point of connection.

All this is not a reason to pass by this bike. Mine were barn finds that needed a goodly amount of work. If you are handy with a wrench and invest in a shop manual you will end up with a great bike that will give huge amounts of miles of great riding.

Hello friends thank you again the Bike has been serviced in well respected Bike repairer shop and I spoke to the gentlemen over telephone what he has done and will go and see him in the next two three days to get the full story. At the moment what I heard is very encouraging all the fuel system has been serviced the carburetor has been striped and fitted with new parts from Honda.Clean second hand fuel tank with no rust has been replaced. The rest I should get written service history with photos if possible and I will be back to you.I would like to thank you all of you again and really much appreciate your concern and advice.

God bless all.

Hello friends thank you for your suggestion the bike is running and got registered after chucked by Vic roads for its iligablity on the road. The guy took it to a bike mechanic who did serviced it as I try to mention earlier.Yes my first thing to do is the timing belts and chuck for the rest on my way.The guy sealing the bike ride it a few hundred of miles around town saeling it due to its weight and look very young man.Any way I took your advice will keep you updated thank you all.
