94 Honda Goldwing GL1500A mystery bolt
While washing our Wing I found a loose bolt in the air louvers on left side. The bolt is 1 1/2 inches long and 5/16 in diameter. The tread is not fine, I think it must not belong to the bike?
Can anyone identify this mystery bolt? Thank you. tcryder- baba67

I'm not positive but it reminds me of the bolts for the engine guards or floorboards?

Honda uses that type of bolt on multiple locations on the bike. You'll have to start removing plastic to see where it goes.
One place to look first without removing plastic is the fork tube triple tree clamps.

I don't recall running across chromed bolts on mine, does it belong to any accessories such as passenger arm rests, or maybe leftover from the trike conversion?

Is it metric? If not it would have to be aftermarket item or doesn’t go to the bike.

It's definitely an OEM Honda bolt, they use bolts like that with those nonstandard markings all over the bike:

Because they are used all over, it's going to take some searching to find where that one came from.

I have done this twice now.
Removing the handlebars and (supposedly) being very careful to not drop the hold down bolts...
Those louvers are in the right spot to capture said handlebar bolts.

I think it is one of the 4 handlebar bolts (8x35) shown as #31 in the picture.

Did you surmise that from my post JUST before yours?Erdeniz Umman wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 2:44 amI think it is one of the 4 handlebar bolts (8x35) shown as #31 in the picture.

No. I just thought the chrome plated bolts on the bike, and checked their lengths and compared with the length given in the first post.Wing--Man wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 9:06 amDid you surmise that from my post JUST before yours?Erdeniz Umman wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2019 2:44 amI think it is one of the 4 handlebar bolts (8x35) shown as #31 in the picture.

Ditto on a chrome bolt. Not many to choose from on the bike. Probably dropped by previous owner an replaced.
