Why does your profile say you have a 1988 GL1500. Is that what you own and are now just working on a 1996?

The '88 and '89 final drive units are different than all the rest of the GL1500 final drive units. However, the gear ratios are all the same.
The '89 final drive will bolt up to the swing arm but you will not be able to mount your wheel to it. Find a '90 or newer final drive.
