I was out for a ride today, and heard something ba-bunk-ta tunk...
I pulled over, and got off the bike to take a look. I noticed one of the pocket doors blew off. What the heck?
Walked back up the road about 50 yards and found it laying in the center of the road, luckily nobody ran over it. Not a mark on it.
I've seen some posts where people put actual hinges and screws on them. For what they cost, I'm thinking that's a worthwhile consideration.

Yes there have been posts I've seen in the past 10 years on another forum I was part of, using a thin copper wire as a fix to make the wire a hinge pin. Drill a hole in each pin area, loop the wire through both sides, loop around and secure the wire to itself, one large loop through both sides of the hinge pins.

Re: Little pocket door blew off
I bonded small nylon straps to the inner side of the pocket and to the inner side of the door. That way if the door was to ever come off, it doesn't depart the bike.

Like the tether concept better than putting external hinges on. Thanks.

I used a hidden piece of stainless steel piano hinge & some small screws. Works better than original, and should last a millenium or so....
Been working perfectly for a couple of years now. When the other side's hinge wears out, I'll do the same on that side, too.
Here's a link (about 1/2 way down the page).... viewtopic.php?f=6&t=38953&p=239742&hilit=hinge#p239742

I hinged mine. I did trim to fit passenger audio control to hinge.
