exhaust cover colors
Does anyone know if 1989 & 1995 exhaust shield colors are the same for the red bikes? My 95 gl 1500 is candy spectre red. I think the 89 main color for red is a different color. My Exhaust shield got damaged by battery acid - take the battery out before checking fluid. I found a used cover for a 89 model but I cant tell from the pics if the color is the same. Thanks.

Re: exhaust cover colors
The '89 Red is called "Candy Wineberry" (R114CU), and the '95 Red is called "Candy Spectra" Red (R176C), OR the other reddish one is called "Candy Garnet" Red (R199C).
I don't think the exhaust covers are interchangable color-wise because of the different color codes. But honestly, I'm just not sure.

The colors differ but that cover is below the pass floorboards in a dark area, you could paint them with rattle can and no one will notice.

Ha! Found the paint code on the gas tank access door. Sent it to the e-bay vendor for a replacement shield and he said he could determine a color match from the code. Waiting to hear back. I'll post an update when it shakes out so everyone can know.

Re: exhaust cover colors
The muffler cover on the earlier Red bikes were painted Wineberry I believe. I don't remember when the muffler covers were painted the same as the body color.
On my Candy Spectra Red '98 and '99 the muffler covers were the body color. Prior to that I remember that the muffler covers and the lower cowl were Wineberry.

Jtd,
Glad to hear you found the color code under the gas door, , , ,What color code was there???
I might need to update my documents if it differs from what I told you.
Good luck with your project, , ,

Paint them both either black, grey, or BBQ.
