Speedometer grease

Post by Johnf1059 »

Hi guys. I have my front wheel off putting fork seals In my GL1500. I cleaned all the old grease out of the speedometer housing on the front wheel and was wandering what I should use to lubricate the gears with. I have some grease left from when I lubed the final drive splines. Would that be ok to use? Thank for any suggestions!

Anything goes when everything's gone!

The same grease you would use on the front axle will work fine.
You ain't lost, you're just somewhere you ain't been before.

I don't think using Moly paste on that would be a good idea, think I'd use regular axle grease instead....

Correct. Any high-quality automotive grease will work just fine.

I'm probably speaking from a position of ignorance, but I use axle grease from my big tub of axle grease.

I used axle grease on mine when I cleaned it out and re-applied the grease.
