Timing Belts
Hello does anyone know if there are any FAKE timing belts posing as Gates belts, the reason I ask is on ebay there are so many "GATES" timing belts pictured in albeit red boxes branded gates at such a variation of prices from as low as about $18 a pair, I'm afraid of unknowingly buying a cheap chinese copy and ending up with a smashed engine. There is nowhere locally to buy these belts, only a hond dealer who I doubt will have or get these gl1500 belts being so old now.
Any input appreciated

Re: Timing Belts
Bought mine on Amazon.ca made by Gates for $30.62 each Canadian, bien sur
On Amazon, it will say where they come from, supplier... My search was for "Gates T275" and they are still available by the look of things...
Bonne chance!

Re: Timing Belts
I've bought Gates T275 belts twice off Amazon, most expensive was $14 & change, that's 4 belts total, all were marked made in United Kingdom.
I was comparing OEM GL1200 belts with OEM GL1500 belts and the Gates T275 belt. Both the 1200 & 1500 belts are same length, pitch, width too, but 1200 belts teeth are flat topped.Make Courtesy your "Code of the Road" …

How are them United Kingdom belts? I ordered some from RockAuto and when they came in it says made in United kingdom... Nowhere does it say gates even though they are packaged in Gates boxes....
I was wondering if these were knockoffs.... I emailed Gates about them, waiting on a response now.....
I'm kinda scared to put them on in case they are junk.

Re: Timing Belts
They are exactly like what come on the bike, flawless so far. My second set is put aside on a shelf. OEM had Honda and part numbers on them, likely they rebranded them after getting them from Gates.jamesmorrow wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2020 7:42 pmCrystalPistol wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2019 8:52 pm I've bought Gates T275 belts twice off Amazon, most expensive was $14 & change, that's 4 belts total, all were marked made in United Kingdom.comp GL timing belts (5) gates #T275.jpgcomp GL timing belts (10).jpg I was comparing OEM GL1200 belts with OEM GL1500 belts and the Gates T275 belt. Re: Timing Belts
I believe that you can also purchase the Gates T275 belts from NAPA Auto Parts.

Thanks, I spoke with Gates... They are genuine Gates belts... They have a plant in the UK.
