Double side tape
Help!!
Some where (on this site??) I saw some information about a 3M double sided tape. There were 3 letters in the name. I think. Something like D-M. H
Does anyone have any information on this??
Thanks Ed

Re: Double side tape
You must be referring to 3M VHB. I use 4611 on all steel and plastic chromed trim and covers, only needs a bit.
Front crank cover
and side covers.

X2
I think it's called Very High Bond.
You can increase adheasion using a prep or primer they sell.
Amazon sells it. I've used it, once stuck it is stuck.
Maybe they'll develop a EHB ort Extremely High Bond?

Re: Double side tape
Thanks. Home depot! Great information.
We could get over the top with the acronyms. Maybe, TVB2WTEI. (the very best 2 way tape ever invented)

Re: Double side tape
Yup, VHB is the stuff. I use it ALL the time - it basically stays put no matter what, and fastens things permanently - unless you want to remove it, in which case it is possible, with no goo or adhesive left behind. Love it!

I also use 3M Adhesion Promoter if I REALLY want something to stick. It increases the adhesion of the VHB tape.
Preparation is important: clean the surfaces to be bonded with rubbing alcohol first, to make sure there is no grease.

That VHB tape is what came with the Innovv K2 cameras, right? How are they holding up? Did you use the adhesion promoter for those?WingAdmin wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 11:29 pmYup, VHB is the stuff. Re: Double side tape
I don't recall if the K2 came with VHB tape or not (it's been a year since I installed it). I know it came with mechanical mounts.C-dub wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 11:00 amThat VHB tape is what came with the Innovv K2 cameras, right? How are they holding up? In any case, yes, I used VHB to mount the cameras (either supplied VHB, or what I already had on-hand, I don't recall). Neither camera has budged since I installed them, and yes, I did use adhesion promoter (definitely did not come with the kit - I keep some on-hand).
