1200 pinion joint on a 1500

Post by CWN »

Having just found my shaft/p.joint splines half worn and having a perfect 12 pinion joint here, anyone see any problem using it ?

Are you meaning the splined collar that is fastened to the pinion shaft and which the drive shaft slides into?
Will it even fit?
Does it have properly located hole to let lube reach the spline?
I have had a 1200, I have several "unused at present" 1500 FDs (left over from trikes), but I never looked to see if the collars or hubs or whatever will interchange.
I know the 1200 or 1500 drive shaft both have same spline at the FD end.

It's a direct bolt in Pistol. Only difference is on the tail end of the pinion joint, but I figure if a 15 r.end works in a 12 using the 12 shaft, this should work in reverse.

Just saw that I double posted, wonder how I did that?

It looks like it will, for sure a 1500 driveshaft will fit in the 1200 collar. My only question was if the 1200 collar mates properly with the 1500 pinion gear shaft. Seems you are in a great position to ascertain that.
