My 1990 1500 will start only in neutral

This has been going on for a year, She will only start in neutral, kick stand up.

I know I have read all about this issue but I cannot find it. Is it the clutch switch?

From what you described, you need to check both the clutch switch and the kick stand switch to make sure they are working.

How is your hearing? Can you hear the click of the switches as you pull in the clutch? There is one click just as you pull it in, that is the cruise control defeat switch.
As you pull the lever all the way into the hand grip, there should be a second click, that is the switch that allows you to start in gear with the clutch pulled in and the kick stand up.
If you do not hear the second click, it could be a bad switch or a bad clutch lever brass bushing.
Here is what my bushing looked like at about 111,000 miles:
