what would cause...

Post by in2it »

I bought "iMC motorcom HS-G130P" headset for the 1500.... wanting to take advantage the features that the Goldwing audio system offers.... after setting up the helmet and plugging in the 5 pin connector all I heard was a loud popping noise out of one of the speakers in the helmet ... I double check all of the connections all is good there... even tried the passenger plug... still the same... the radio and cassette deck works through the speakers and works very well, but not when using the 5 pin plug in connector... has anyone experience this ??? I'm hoping it isn't the radio/cassette deck gone bad or is it the "iMC motorcom HS-G130P"

does the bike have a CB radio?
if so, is the squelch 'open' allowing noise to come through?

The Intercom level also has an effect, I had to balance the levels back and forth before my helmet 5 wire headset worked right.

I'm using the EdSet system, but the wiring should be identical.

I played with the CB controls.. and nothing changed ...still have the loud popping noise ... guess have to dig deeper into this... going to dig into the left side pocket and locate the C311 connector and test for open or grounded connection ...

Dumb question but, did you switch from speakers to headset on the radio? I forgot to do that on mine when I first bought the headset and took me a little while to figure what was wrong. This was my first Goldwing. I now use the Sena wireless headset and am happy with it.

Well I found the C311 Red connector ... its a tight squeeze to get to... tried to separate the connector and couldn't... could see the catch that you have to push down to pull the connector apart, I just wasn't able to do it... just wish I had smaller hands ... just find it frustrating 8-)

I found out what is causing the dreadful popping/clicking noise.... I called Sierra-mc and was advised to try the other headset, which I hadn’t opened... thinking it was the Deck/CB ...well it’s the headset... shipping it back to Midwest Cycle Pro for and exchange... like to thank everyone who offered suggestions... I appreciate it

And update on the saga of the iMC headset ... I bought them from Midwest Cycle Pros ... I tried calling them (no recorded message or information tree) ... tried emailing them and never got a response from them... I tried this for several days giving the benefit of the doubt ... nothing ... all I wanted was to exchange the bad one for a good one hence the 2 year warranty ... just wanted to let folks know the experience I had ...
