Did it run good last year? Stuck throttle cable or "choke" cable maybe.

Maybe "Choke" on, and /or a massive vacuum leak supplying air too.
"Choke" on a 1500 does not choke air, it adds fuel instead to enrichen mix for cold starts.

I'd say the throttle plates on the carbs are stuck wide open.... 6krpm is pretty extreme for a vacuum leak. Especially with 2 carbs.
If your throttle system is working correctly you should be able to turn the throttle grip opposite the regular direction to close the plates. Sometimes the cables and throttle sleeve stick over winter.
Outside of the above too-easy-to-be-true fix I would say you are looking at getting to the carbs to figure that one out. Good luck.

It doesn't matter what you ride, as long as you have your knees to the breeze.

Thanks to all that replyed. The throttle was stuck. Its always ran fine. It did sit up more this last year and winter. once i worked it free its been great. No problems starting or driving. Just need to ride it more often. Not good to sit up too long. Thanks again to everyone
