Just quit
Riding along on interstate. Just shuts down. Starts back up and dies. Almost full tank. Towed home. Thinking bad gas. I drained and new filter. Premium gas added. Someone said possible bank angle sensor. New sensor 135 $ found one on ebay. No such luck. Did a test on spark. Getting a week spark from #1 cyl. I think. Any suggestions please

Thinking plugged gas cap, especially on a nearly full tank, you'll pump gas out of the tank and without a way for air to get in there to replace the gas you pumped out you build up a vacuum until the pump can't overcome it and pump more fuel. Thus you effectively "run out of gas".
Loosen the gas cap and try again, I bet it keeps running.
Soak gas cap 24 hrs in Seafoam, it will be good as new.

Re: Just quit
Engine needs three things. Compressed air, fuel, spark. Check to see which one you are missing. Better to test things like BAS instead of just throwing parts at a problem hoping it will go away. A common fault that would give your symptoms is bad fuel shut off valve or a fuel pump problem. You can search here for testing procedures for both of those. A quick test to see if there is fuel in the carbs is to look down them while working the throttle. You should see fuel squirting from the accelerator pump nozzles. Spark is typically you have it or you don't. That you could restart and it died right away points more to empty carbs. Could you do this start and die more than once or twice?
Yeah that gas cap issue would be a real head slapper after you towed it home. I hope it's that easy for you.

We could have helped test whether or not the bank angle sensor was the problem before you spent money to replace it!
When it quit, did it just shut off like you turned the key off, or did it slowly die like you were running out of gas?
Did anything else electrical shut off at the same time?

Guessing 1 of 2 things. As Denver said, clogged gas cap. Or fuel shut off. Maybe check condition of vacuum line to fuel shut off valve.

I'd also check the condition (pressure)of the thirty year old fuel pump, as well as the gas cap, as starting spots. Take a look at your new fuel filter, too.

Re: Just quit
i used to have a '98SE and one day it just decided that it did not want to run any more shortly after a stop at a fast food place.... I had been on a return trip from Arkansas so the bike had been running hard at about 85mph for a long time.
Stopped, grabbed a bite to eat, got back on and head for home.... and it just started slowing down, like it was gasping for breath.
I only had 11 miles to go, so I just opened the gas cap, left it off, and it would make about 20 mph IIRC now.
the fuel pump had laid up forever it seemed.... I replaced it with a NAPA pump and it ran fine after that.

that is how a petcock will work if the diaphragm has a hole in it.

Rebuild the petc0ck, kits are cheaper and it's easy.
You wasted money on premium fuel, it's premium because it has addatives to decrease volatility, it's a little harder to ignite.

Hey thanks too everyone on this forum. I have great news, i got the wing started. it turned out to be the auto fuel valve, located above the fuel tank. Honda called it a fuel petcock. I drove to Everett and picked it up this morn. In stock. I mean the rebuild kit, and it was super easy.

+1 on the Premium fuel. Premium fuel in my ‘93 1500 makes it run horribly. Wants to stutter on take off. I had accidentally put Premium in soon after I bought it and it immediately started the stuttering. Ran a tank of regular through and it was back to normal. A friend mistakenly put Premium in it some time later and it started the stuttering all over again. Same cure - a tank of regular and back to normal.
