Another radio mod
So your riding and down comes the rain, so as not to get the radio soaked you put the radio cover on, further along the road, music is too loud or not loud enough, do you stop, remove the cover and adjust the volume, or turn it off (not an option), if only there was a volume knob on the outside of the radio cover.
DAH DAH!! enter "external radio volume knob", yes another farkle.
I drilled a 1mm hole in the vol. knob using my lathe to get dead centre of knob and forced a nail in point upwards, put the knob on the radio, fitted the cover and tapped with a hammer to mark the inside of the cover where the hole needs to be.
finally fitting the cover and passing the knob and shaft assembly through the hole, when I find a circlip I will secure the shaft to the cover.
Now in the pooring rain, as I ride in all weathers, I can adjust the music and keep the radio dry.
I know, I'm a farkleaholic, there's no cure for it!!!

I've never actually used my radio cover! I just let the rain come down (and boy, have I ridden in some rain...)

Re: Another radio mod
I agree with Admin; the radio doesn't need any protection from the rain........................

I wasn't aware the radio was that waterproof, having dismantled it for the aux input mod, didn't look like it was able to withstand torrential downpour, I bow to your superior knowledge. The town I go to in England, you would come back to your bike and find all the radio knobs missing. But the point being, IT'S JUST ANOTHER FARKLE

As Wingadmin expressed, it is quite water resistant. Too bad it is not as theft resistant as it is water resistant.agedbikeman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 28, 2020 1:48 pmI wasn't aware the radio was that waterproof, having dismantled it for the aux input mod, didn't look like it was able to withstand torrential downpour, I bow to your superior knowledge. I too have very rarely used the cover at all, nor do I even use the radio in rain.
