If your running GL1500 and Sidecar you might be interested in the following:-
Anyone with a GL1500 outfit might be interested in the following.
I was I doing some deep maintenance to help pass the time. I was wiring in a rear fog light when I noticed a rusty line around the front of the two l/h seat lugs where the Sidecar rear mounting bracket bolts on. I gave the lug a twist and away it came, fracturing all the way round. The wall of the tube is only one mm thick so not surprised it failed. Someone had pushed a piece of bar up the centre but it wasn’t long enough to go all the way across the frame tube and it wasn’t welded in so, though it must have helped, not a proper job. Luckily I had a noggin of 19 mm bms bar so I could make a new lug and weld it in. Not the best bit of welding I’ve done (out of practice these days) but I’m confident it won’t come off.
If your mountings are similar you might want to have a quick check and perhaps strengthen the lug before it fails.

It’s worth a look.
The tube wall is on the thin side for a seat lug let alone a Sidecar mount.
