Gurgling sound from air box/ Timing belt noise?

Post by drummertom43 »

Just replaced my timing belt and I have a gurgling sound coming from the airbox. Haven't put all the plastics back on yet but wanter to see if these were normal. First is the air box, second is timing belts.

Agreed, that's the character of the sound, but a high speed timing belt rubbing on a tensioner or idler can make a noise very similar to that. Or a bad idler wheel bearing.

I can't make out the gurgling noise in the first video.

That noise from the air cleaner box sounds like the large hose under the front right side has come off the nipple on the lower air cleaner box. It is an annoying sound and that hose is not very easy to get back on there. Also, the noise will stop temporally when you rev it up and let off.

Timing belts …. too tight, they sing … but … too loose, they flop about.

I heard just mechanical noises as if I had a stethoscope on the belt covers. Maybe some bearing noise too, but not bad as they are steel rollers and balls on steel races spinning ... but no squalling or squealing.

Air cleaner housing noise just sounds like carburetor noise as air is pulled in through the carbs, nothing unusual.

I hear it in the first video. The intake hose for PAIR underneath in right front corner of air box is not connected. Gurgling sound at idle and while increasing RPM, as RPM drops it pauses. The pause is the cessation of added air in exhaust which prevents after burn. Your PAIR system works as designed so that is some good news. :)
