1995 GL1500 carbs. A bit missing?

Post by Sidcar »

’m refitting the carb’ assembly. There is a 3 way hose connector at the rear of the carbs taking 2 large and one small hose. The 2 large (One has the number six, or nine, on it) come from vents in the venturies, I can’t see where the small hose comes from. What puzzles me is that the centre of the connector is open to the atmosphere. Should it be blanked off, there’s no sign that A bit has broken off but why go to the trouble of bringing those 3 hoses together if they just vent to air.

Any one know? I’m reluctant to refit the carbs only to find I need to replace the connector.

Sid.

That is a correct installation with the open tee. The smaller hose goes down to bottom of engine roughly parallel with the float bowl drain tube hose on right side of engine where it terminates open. CA emission equipped vehicles have a closed tee.

Thanks for the info I can now press on and get this job finished.
Not that I can go anywhere when it’s done, he said with a sigh.

Thanks a lot,

Sid
