Kickstand switch

Kickstand switch
Hello all have a question my 1994 gl 1500 goldwing it starts runs fine the I will forget and put it In first gear it shuts off then I hit the starter button and it won't start up again until I let it sit seems like it does this when it hot can anyone help me with this issue I'm stumped just wondering if the kickstand switch could be bad has anyone else ever had this issue

That does sound like it could be an issue with the side stand switch. It will kill the engine when you put it in gear if the side stand is down and you can't restart it either until you put the stand up or get back in neutral. I would check to see if there is ground on the green/white wire coming from the side stand switch. Maybe the best place to check is at connector C28 (3 pin green). It is located behind the left side panel near the reverse lever. There is a row of connectors there and C28 is one of them.
The green/white wire should have ground when the stand is UP.
The yellow/black wire should have ground when the stand is DOWN.
That would be where I would start. If you have some contact cleaner, spray the connector while you have it apart.
