Proper air hose routing?

Post by oakback »

My air compressor runs, and I can hear the solenoid click when I push "p check", buy pressure doesn't increase, and nothing comes out of the pump hose.

I took apart the compressor and cleaned up the innards and put a new foam filter in, no change. But I did test the compressor prior to reinstalling, and air came out.

I removed the right saddlebag, and see that the hose from the compressor goes to the solenoid block thingie, but the filler hose is connected to the shock. Clearly this is wrong. There's also a hose coming out of the front (in relation to the bike) of the solenoid block, which looks cut off.

Where should the filler hose come from? And which hose should connect to the shock?

And possibly an entirely different conversation, but should I bother? I read in other threads where folks couldn't rebuild their shock, and we're replacing them with non-air springs. I'd like to retain the original if possible.

IIRC directly from compressor, the hose that threads in. The tire air fill hose has a schrader valve at end of hose in trunk so it does not just release the pumped air all the time.

Oh I see what you mean now.

There's a hose from a banjo bolt in the compressor, and that goes to the solenoid box.

Then there's a hose that screws directly into the compressor, and that terminates at a shrader valve. (On mine that hose looks cut too)

Is that right?

I don't know why someone would mess this up so bad.
