REBUILDING CARBURETORS
I just finish re-building the carburetors on my 1992 gl1500a, and have ran into more then my fair share of problems, starting to regret buying this bike. First it was getting the vaccuum sliders to seal correctly, and now I have fuel flowing out the bottom of the bike like rain!!! I believe it's telling me my floats are not closing. Does anyone know the measurements for the float on this bike? Or, give me suggestions on what the problem could be this time. Any help would be great!

Yes Sir, Both those hoses are connceted to the carb, and it is the overflow hose that is leaking. I have ordered a float measuring tool, but I don't know what the measurment or spec is for the floats.

Re: REBUILDING CARBURETORS
8mm for setting your float height. What is the history, had it been sitting around? Did you install new Honda float valves?

Re: REBUILDING CARBURETORS
In my search for this setting in the Honda manual I found 8mm on one page and also 7.5mm on another page. ??? Probably .5mm won't matter but there is a mistake in the manual.

Re: REBUILDING CARBURETORS
The only one for 8mm was for the 88 model year they then went to 7.5mm. I just set for the short side of 8mm.
When setting float height the spring loaded needle tip does not get compressed.

Re: REBUILDING CARBURETORS
I need to find someone local in Orlando Florida area to rebuild mine, running so much better after putting 2500 miles on it with non ethanol fuel and sea foam, getting 36 MPG if shifting early and often.
Still have a rich smell idling, not as bad but still have some, would rather have someone who knows them and has all the tools
