Open sidecases

Post by Kwest364 »

1989 gl1500

Have keys, insert into trunk lock, turn key/lock 90°right, trunk opens with latch. Neither side case unlatched. Previous owner opened em when buying bike, so I know it works. Guess I'm missing something simple.

To "unlock" trunk and side cases (saddlebags), insert key into trunk lock and turn key to "vertical" position, then reach under trunk and gently pull lever on left (for left bag), or right (for right bag). To "lock" all three, turn key to "horizontal" position.

OOPS!! I got it reversed, , ,Listen to what I mean, , NOT what I say :)

Horizontal is unlocked. Vertical is locked.

There are emergency releases for them inside the trunk. Open the trunk, on the bottom of it you'll see two plastic circles about an inch in diameter, one on each side. Pry up the circle (it's a plug) and there will be a hole left in the bottom of the trunk. Push your finger down into the hole and press on the little post, and it will pop open the saddlebag on that side. (As per wingadmin's instructions)

If I don't do Facebook or Twitter do I still have to do Social Media Distancing????
Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing it.
