Gents,
Analysing the front "wobble" of my GL1500, it came to my attention the Bridgestine G709 - on the bike when I bought it - is not fit for the GL1500, only 1800.
I am also renewing the head bearings, but could this be the cause of the wobble?

I don't know about the Bridgestone, but I can tell you this.
When I got my 1500, it had Dunflop E3s on it.
I could NOT let go of the bars. It would start head-shaking like hell.
I put a Michelin Commander II on the front and ZINGO!
No more shaking! I can now let go of the bars at any speed.

I had the 709 on my 08 1800 and never had a problem. I always ran Dunlop E 2 and E 3 on my 1500's and never had any handlebar shaking, My 02 1800 was the fitsr bike I ever had that had shaking. Good luck and re post when you get it fixed

I ran the Bridgestone Excedra Max radial on my 1500 Aspencade (along with a darkside radial rear tire) and my bike rode great and cornered like it was on rails. Never had an issue. No wobble, no scalloping, nothing. What makes you think it's not 'fit' for a 1500?

My tireshop advised me to swap the front tire, said the difference should be noticable. If he's right, he will be my main shop for tires, if not, he'll have some real explaining to do...
The steering head bearings are installed. Meanwhile, I replaced those wretched bolts above the frontwheel by some 'butterfly' ones.

Excellent idea! I ended up buying a cheap and nasty Harbor Freight wrench and bending it to make a custom tool specifically for those bolts.Toogzweire wrote: ↑Mon Jun 29, 2020 2:38 pm My tireshop advised me to swap the front tire, said the difference should be noticable. New (All Balls) bearings and a brandnew Exedra G701 and she rides like a gem!
She now could use some steel brakeleads, any ideas?
