What PSI do you run your tires at?
I always run at max sidewall PSI, 42-44 lbs.

I hope you have good luck with the Shinko. I have not heard of anyone that has on the Gold Wing.

Date code is 29/19. Same date is on the one that will replace it. Cracks are small and only on the left side. 36 psi when they were discovered, I don't think that is an issue, IMO... Not even 1500 miles on it.

I've seen valve stems self destruct in less time after production went overseas. Lack of UV protection.kingofvenus wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:11 pm Date code is 29/19. Re: Radial shinko sidewall cracks
This is only the 2nd time in 50 years of riding that i've had trouble with a tire. The first was in '83 when the front on my brand new gs750es (a bike i still own) developed a quarter sized bubble in the tread. And Bridgestone or Suzuki would not cover it... I think i'm gonna be screwed over this time too.

Re: Radial shinko sidewall cracks
I had the sidewall give out on the rear tire on my GL1000 many years ago, forget the brand of the tire.
A buddy of mine and I were out riding, and decided to stop for lunch. When we came out I found the rear tire (tube-type) on the 1000 was flat. It was fine when we parked. Rode with my buddy to get a can of "fix-a-flat" in hopes of getting the tire inflated enough to get more air in it and make it 30 miles home.
Well, the fix-a-flat didn't work, we found a dime-size spot in the otherwise good sidewall that had disintegrated, and the inner tube had expanded thru that and burst.
Local Police officer came by, and being helpful led us about a mile away to the police station where I could park the bike for safe keeping, drove it there on the flat tire. Didn't figure I'd hurt the tire any more than it was.

I'm guessing that was a rather wobbly ride on a flat rear tire.DenverWinger wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 7:46 am I had the sidewall give out on the rear tire on my GL1000 many years ago, forget the brand of the tire.

Re: Radial shinko sidewall cracks
Wobbly would be a very good description of that ride
I decided 15 MPH was quite fast enough! (but it might've smoothed out some if I went over 30)

Re: Radial shinko sidewall cracks
I know this is an old thread. I had same issue with Shinko 777 on my Victory Highball. Installed in 2019, mid of 2021 both front and rear side wall cracked. Even with pendemic lock down for couple of months this should not have happened. I had Bridgestone on my Vulcan 750 years ago. They never cracked. I had them for more than 10 years until I sold the bike. The bike was bought with those tires and I could not afford to change them. Then went baby came along bike never got ridden stored until I sold.
