Any other aftermarked electrical add ons?
You can always start pulling fuses to at least isolate where it is coming from.

Not sure what "oblong white electrical plug" you are referring to.

Thank you for your reply......the white oblong plug i refer to is the main electrical connector which plugs directly into the audio unit itself.....alongside a smaller square white plug which also plugs into the unit......these two plugs would have to be disconnected if you were wanting to remove the audio unit from the bike..........( im still going crazy :x :x :x :x )...

That white oblong rectangular plug you speak of is the main audio and power connection for your bikes radio system. It is for Radio Audio, Cassette Deck audio and Intercom Audio as well as all the controls on the bike to the radio itself. Everything that is audio goes through that connector.

I do not know what you have tried so far but if it were me, I would turn off all the audio controls that can be turned off and see if the noise goes away.

There should not be any audio coming through your speakers with the key in the OFF position.
Do you have any aftermarket accessories that play through your speakers?

I case you do not have a service manual, here is a pinout diagram of the Aspencade and Interstate models connector you are talking about.
