Looking for input on issue B4 buying 99 Wing.

I'm looking and considering a fairly well maintained 1999SE with 60K miles.
Owner let's me test ride but not remove any panels to check it out.

It has part throttle lag/miss but once reving to around 2K rpms it runs smooth & strong through each gear.
It idles fine until off throttle and it sounds like a (consistent) 1 spark plug miss.
I'm thinking it's a vac leak unless someone has had this before & it's a bad idle circuit but I'm doubting that due to the consistent miss.

Owner says it began this miss as he was riding about 1 hour after refueling. This eliminates poor fuel. Peaking into the fuel door the filter is OEM and appears clean. High rpm's under load eliminates plugged filter & low fuel pressure.

Any ideas or thoughts?

My 88 had a miss.One bad ignition coil.Very weak spark compared to the others.
Another fellow found his miss was low compression.He/we determined that a valve was sticking open a bit.Rotating the engine backwards a few times over a couple of days relieved the trapped oil pressure on the hydraulic lash adjusters..A bit of sea foam and a fresh oil change sorted it out.
Because of its age,I would also suspect "some" vacuum leaks.Plan on replacing hoses,timing belt and every ounce of fluid in the entire bike as a preventative measure.

Virgil, most are my sentiments also but I cannot work on it until I commit to buying it.
I was hoping for some who actually knew the issue through experience. I know, I know... wishful thinking.
I'm still debating on the bike, he says few are looking at it = #2. yellow flag.

My 1991 Wing I've become well aware of vacuum leaks, posted a few pix & very frugal fixes of very expensive hoses.
OEM prices are like choking a dead man on a noose. Noose (is the Wing), dead man (stuck with the bike), prices (we can finagle).

I understand.The symptoms can lead you to different areas.Take heart tho.65k miles???It's barely broke in..The rest is a result of 21years.
If you can't get a positive confirmation of the problems,you could "price reduce" it for the worst case scenario.

Lowest $$, quite correct.

New piece of info from the owner.
He said in pouring rain or car washes the bike had a hard time restarting until it dried out. So to me that means a coil. But oddly at 2K+ rpm's it runs normal.

Now 'IF' I can only get him to let me pull some covers........ .. . . . . :roll:

Not so much the coils but the drains.The plug boots may be carbon tracked.

My '94 with 82,000 miles had a loping idle issue when I looked at it, but everything else had been taken care of very well with meticulous records.
Owner said the bike sat for a few months and since that time it had the idle issue, and had it in the past as well after sitting.
He said he would run a tank or 2 with BG44 through it and it would clear up.
I offered him $250 less ($3,250 total) because of it and he accepted.
I tried the BG44 for 2 tanks full strength and it did not help.
I ended up doing the toothpick mod on mine and it fixed it.
I did not have an issue once I got above 1000 rpm's though, it was just an idle issue.

Well so far all the issues & their fixes are pretty much surface repairs.
I read up on the toothpick trick, yeeeaaah, rather just pull the carbs and bowls to see what's in there.
