Aftermarket adapter for 1989 GL1500 stereo

Post by Roughridercog »

I'm really wanting to mount a newer stereo system in "Old Ugly." But for the life of me, I cannot find an adapter that will look good sitting there. Is there a company that makes an adapter that I can use to mount a marine Bluetooth stereo on the bike?

If you guys don't know, I bet no one knows.

I've gotten same panels made that mount perfectly where the stereo fits. They're called Unobtainium 2.1. There are a few threads here with good information on which Marine radios have been used. Some folks have wired the handlebar controls to newer radios with success. I have been pleased with my set up with Bluetooth, USB (charges iPhone & plays MP3's with thumbdrive) Aux-in from phone, and remote.

The vendor charges me $132 per panel and I make $0 profit selling them to members here.
Shipping is $15.05 USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail.

If you are interested in one, please PM me with questions, or use Paypal at Paypal.Me/bluthundr31 or simply use the "send money" tab to Bluthundr31@yahoo.com.

I thought this was a snarky response with the "unobtanium" until I saw the pics and my jaw dropped and I spit a bit of water on my mechanical keyboard. Bravo!

100% LEGIT!! Sturdy and functional!!!

I had a modified ignition panel to start off with called Unobtainium 2.0. It is made to accommodate a couple 2" gauges.

These are very rare and thus, the Unobtainium name applies.

PM me with any questions.

I prefer Paypal for payment, they'll send me an alert when funds are received.
Payment of $147.05 to Paypal.Me/Bluthundr31, or simply use the "Send Money" tab to Bluthundr31@yahoo.com. Put a note on which panel you are purchasing.

For an additional $16.50 I will include a "gauge visor" on the purchase of an Unobtainium 2.0 panel. The visor blocks sun glare, and annoying reflection off the windshield during night-riding, ,

SHIPPING UPDATE: The USPS has increased shipping costs for the Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium box to $15.50 USD to anywhere in the lower 48 states. The cost of each panel is still the same ($132.00 USD).

Howdy.

Is the UnObtainium Two 2 Inch gauges panel still being made / for sale ?

I'm not sure which name it is called. UNOBTAINIUM 2.0 and UNOBTAINIUM 3.0 ( i think ) refer to the Goldwing Radio to Car Radio panels.
