Parts to replace with driveline out

Post by XJSRider »

From U Joint to rear wheel is out of the bike. Was happy to see that all the splines look great after cleaning them up.

I have the Honda moly grease to put it back together, should I be replacing any seals or is it ok to reuse. I had no leaks or anything prior to disassembly. Main reason for taking it all out was to relube all the splines and maybe make U Joint replacement easier.

If you haven't got a leak, then I wouldn't bother replacing any seals. Don't fix what's not broken! :)

This is probably too late for your project but for the next reader I would suggest at least checking the condition of the rubber vibration dampers in the rear hub to make sure that they aren't torn or beat up real badly, same check when the wheel is off for a new tire.
Try to learn from the mistakes of others..... you won't live long enough to make them all yourself!

Thanks. They looked ok. I could wiggle them EVER so slightly but they did not look beat up... wasn't 100% tight and unmoveable but not sloppy.
