Electrical problem

Post by 1989Andrew »

I have a 1989 Goldwing and suddenly while riding my headlight, tail lights and dashboard gauges stopped working. Can anyone suggest things to check to fix this problem?

Have you checked your fuses?

Thank you for responding . Yes I have checked and tested the fuses and all are good and are the correct size. Would you have any other suggestions please?

I think it's time to break out the old test light to see where you have juice and where you don't then we will have something to guess from.
Try to learn from the mistakes of others..... you won't live long enough to make them all yourself!

Does the air pump work? Is the alternator charging? If not, it could be the 55 amp main fuse B, located just forward of the battery.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check that the air pump and alternator are working. I do believe that they are but will double check. Thanks

When you check the alternator for charging, check it at the battery and, if not charging there, check at the alternator output terminal. That 55 amp fuse is between the alternator output and the battery.
