Reverse issue
Bought a well maintained and garaged 1988 gl1500 with 58,000 miles that runs well (except for surge at low RPM). My issue is with the reverse. PO said reverse worked fine until he changed the rear tire (don't know if that contributed to the problem) With the bike in idle and reverse switch up (engaged), it will lurch back an inch or so when I hit the start button, then stop. It will do this every time I tap the starter button. I'm hoping for a simple solution. Thoughts?

Re: Reverse issue
If they used the flip-up method of raising the saddlebags and trunk for the tire change it is common enough for the starter relay regulator to become unplugged due to stretching the harness. Look for a red connector under seat left side at the rear.
