H4 bulb base HACK

Post by FM-USA »

I'm sure this has been covered SOMEWHERE here, quick search found nothing.

I did this last weekend (see pix) made a narrow pin H4 bulb fit the 'wide pin' GL1500 housing.
Seen it on another Website but they used a straight wire, putting a curve it makes it tighter under the bent pins.

Total cost, $0.15 (copper wire prices varies)

Thanks for the suggestion. I will review this method for my bulb replacement next weekend. Thanks for posting the H4 Bulb Base Hack.

I prefer to use the Headlight shims sold by vendors such as Cyclemax.
Inexpensive and they will undoubtably last the life of the bike. I've used them in my GL1500 for multiple bulb changes.

Yup, I have used and re-used those exact shims in my GL1500 for many, many years.

IT'S GREAT that someone designed and sell items that are PERFECT.
There are those who still want to DIT (do it themselves) partly to keep their minds sharp and open. At least, to me, one person's idea can spur others to think on or make a better or alternate design.

I don't own caveman tools but now & then I will use a rock to pound in the ground a wooden tent stake.
