Best to do it before.... over time and miles oil gets acidic with combustion materials accumulating in it, you don't want that sitting in your crankcase all winter just to change it out in the spring.
A local inventor has figured a way to turn a sausage grinder backward to manufacture pigs.

Scott(Windmin)has an excellent tutorial on this subject. “How to winterize your Goldwing”. I agree with Denver and Scott.

Re: Oil change before or after winter storage?
If I had to "winterize" (I can and do ride year round), I would do the oil change at the end of the season. As said, old oil can be slightly acidic as well as fuel diluted. Not something I would want sitting in my crank over the winter.DenverWinger wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 7:47 am Best to do it before.... over time and miles oil gets acidic with combustion materials accumulating in it, you don't want that sitting in your crankcase all winter just to change it out in the spring.
Also when riding season comes around, one less thing to do before you start riding.

Re: Oil change before or after winter storage?
Don't just change the oil, do a gallery cleaning. You want to get as much of the old oil into the sump as you can, then change oil as warm as you can take it.
After changing the oil, put about 10 miles on it, then put it to bed for the long winter nap.
