Helmet Blue tooth headset verse Blue Tooth ear over buds
Hello, I have a 1500 goldwing with all working radio, intercom and etc that came factory on the bike. I am wanting not for intercom but to use my cell phone for voice activated answering and listening to my GPS off my phone by bluetooth. I use a full enclosed helmet and in the summer a half helmet. I do not want to have to buy one helmet setup for each of my helmets. I am thinking that i would prefer getting one of those over the ear with a mic that only has to be over one ear and not both. That would allow me to listen to my existing radio and intercom . Should i get a phone call or need to listen to Gps would just turn off the bike system until the phone call ends or i need to talk on my intercom again if i have my wife with me. Certainly others have dealt with this question also. Any recommendations or even products that you have used and worked would be appreciated. Thanks

The over the ear unit would probably be difficult to use with your full enclosed helmet, not much room in there to allow for the unit. Sena makes a nice unit that pairs to your cell phone and works really well. It also has an accessory FREEWIRE unit that plugs in to power and your five pin headset connector that will allow you to listen to radio, CB, aux. input if you have the connection for it. The cassette radio doesn't have the aux input but you can add it with the DIY help on this forum. The non cassette radio, like on my 92 Interstate has the aux input from the manufacturer. But the NAV system would have to be paired separately to the headset. The Sena can be removed from the helmet by loosening two screws that mount the base unit to the helmet and relocated to your other helmet easily. Downside is that the Sena single unit is about $250.00. I don't remember the cost of the dual set. And the Freewire unit in about another $250.00. I use the Sena single with Freewire and am really pleased with it.

You don’t have to buy two Sena’s. Buy one unit and then get a second helmet mount. You can move the brains between helmets. This is what I’m doing.

But that won't let you talk to your wife if she is with you. You could still purchase how ever many mounts you need for your diverse helmets, so you could use each one.Dtominovich wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 6:26 pm You don’t have to buy two Sena’s.
