Annoying high pitch tone in headset.
I have an annoying high pitched tone coming through my headset. What causes it ? How do I get rid of it ?

Re: Annoying high pitch tone in headset.
I'm assuming hardwired headsets. Does the pitch vary with engine RPM? This would be alternator noise. Otherwise I don't know what it is.
Listen carefully-do you hear this same whine in your stereo speakers? On the bikes with a stereo there's supposed to be a capacitor connected to the main output lead of the alternator (a noise filter), it may have failed. Also check all the ground connections for the stereo.
If you are using a bluetooth transmitter and wireless headsets, and there is no whine in the stereo speakers you may have a ground-loop problem. Try connecting the bluetooth transmitter power leads directly to the power and ground leads for the stereo right at the stereo's connector. Or you can get a "Ground Loop Isolator" from your local car stereo dealer to insert into the audio connections of the bluetooth transmitter.

Do you have your intercom turned up to high, if so, shut it off and see if the whine goes away.
