Re: Terminated Wires?
Possibly the front to rear speaker audio fader control wires.

Re: Terminated Wires?
Way too thick, and wrong color wires for speaker fader.
They look like the wires that go to the ignition switch? The red wires are constant +12 volts, black are switched +12 volts. Yellow/Back is switched Parking, the Blue/orange is switched to the engine fan. Light green/black is ACC.
Yup, based on the colors of wires that should be at the ignition switch, I'd say that's what that bundle is. The question is, what's connected to your ignition switch?

Re: Terminated Wires?
Are there rear speakers on the bike on either side of the passenger backrest?
I don't think the GL1500 came with rear speakers as a stock item. But they could be added.
Honda had a fader control that would mount just below the ignition switch. I do not know what the wire colors were on those. And there were many aftemarket faders sold.
Here are a couple of pictures of one of those aftermarket fader switch controls and the wires that are connected to it. The wire colors are pretty close to what you have in your picture.
There are a total of 12 wires.
2 BLU, one light, one dark
2 RED
2 GRN, one light, one dark
2 two BLK,
1 ORN
1 WHT
1 YEL
1 BRN
If your wires are comparable, then that bundle is probably just fine where it is. The wires had a tendency to break off from the potentiometer that they were connected to.

Re: Terminated Wires?
Well after going back out and looking at the wires and your pics I believe your right Mike.
I took that silver button off the console the other day. It didnt look stock there were no wires to it,, kinda thought it was a hole filler,, haha.
The casing is the same shiny black and very brittle. The rear speakers work so I'll well enough alone.
Thanks again for the input
Much appreciated

Re: Terminated Wires?
I have to correct myself. The GL1500 did come with rear speakers on some versions. The GL1500SE had rear spakers.
the Interstate and Aspencade did not but as I said, they could be easily added.
I'm glad you got it figured out Fred. Enjoy the ride.

Re: Terminated Wires?
I replied earlier that I ran into the same issue: thermostat housing leaking. I obviously replaced the seal and I resurfaced the housing. No issues since last March until about 2 weeks ago... We had a very cold night here in Nova Scotia where the temperature deepened to -10C (14F) and guess what; I had a small puddle of green fluid under the bike!
So if you ever get to do this job, please, follow CT1500 advice and replace the housing. Considering what a bear this job is, it will be money well invested. I see how mine goes next summer before I get into that AGAIN...
Note that I had to remove the fans and warm up the engine to actually clearly see where the leak was...
Cheers.

Re: Terminated Wires?
Sorry wrong post... Disregard unless you do have an antifreeze leak...
