Thoughts? If what you have is working, leave it alone. If it isn't working, find an OEM replacement. I am not aware of any plug and play replacement for the GL1500 radio that will give the same functionality as the OEM radio.

Check out this post, still on the first page (for now). 'THE EAGLE 1500 HAS LANDED !!'
Nothing yet about availability or price.

If I don't do Facebook or Twitter, do I still have to do Social Media Distancing???
Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing it.

I looked up viewtopic.php?f=6&t=62755 as you suggested.
Yes, looks like there is a replacement for the stock GL1500 radio that is plug and play unless you want intercom and CB radio functionality. The Eagle 1500 does not include those functions.
All the informatioin is in German and has to be translated. What little I did translate showed me that it is a bit out of my price range. Looks like it will be just under $700 US. If you do decide to buy and install one, let us know how you like it.

I've been down this path so many times I am embarrassed to admit. That said, the approach I've taken is simple. We are riding motorcycles at speed, so fidelity is not possible though better sound is available. So, I chose the utilitarian approach and if changes require significant cost, $500 or more or significant loss of functionality (CB etc.), I pass. What I have settled on that I am very happy with is this... Most music streaming services offer CD quality music, easily available on your choice of music players which includes or android phone. That, is paired with a good set or decent set of phones for the helmet, maintains CB communications, listening to the radio, if yo so choose, and i am never taking a call while winding my way through twisties and, I am good.

Good luck in your search!

I added an FM modulator that adds am aux plug for mine. It installs in line with the antenna, I have the frequency in memory. Tune it in, flip the switch and I can listen to anything. I use my phone for everything, and nice thing is having Waze or Google maps voice playing over the speakers just like in the car. Still use the tape player in town, too, lol.
You ain't lost, you're just somewhere you ain't been before.

No such animal as a plug and play to replace the radio.
