Petrolpump, Electric.
I have tried to find an answer, but it is difficult. Forgive me if I repeat an old question.
I bought a 1993 GL 1500 that soon ended up as a project, and have been testing for several months now. (Engine has been out and almost is in again.)
When I started Looking at it a couple of days ago, the petrol pump was stuck. I took it out, cleaned it, mase it work and put it back in. Now the 12v power to the pump has disappeared. with direct 12v it works, but no power on original cable. I had some before starting.
What can have happened?
Hope for some ideas.
Arnie

The original power wire to the fuel pump will get 12v when you push the start button with the key in the "ON" position. Using a multi-meter, check the voltage at the power wire when you push the start button.

I had that problem with my 92 Interstate and found that years and miles of vibration at the handlebar had loosened the connections at the kill switch. I removed the switch and tightened the wire connections and have had no more problem with that. With bad connections there you won't have power to the fuel pump or ignition. If you find the same, put some blue LOC-TITE on the screw threads first.

Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing it.

Before demonting I only tested with a lamp - had light as it should be, but low (May be to Low current.). Now nothing, but I have not used the voltmeter yet. How do I dismount the killswich?

I wonder if we should start at the beginning with the basics, , , , the low light (dim) makes me question the voltage/battery charge.
Make sure your battery is fully charged, , ,put the + probe of the multi-meter on the + battery terminal, and the - probe on the - battery terminal. Your voltmeter (multi-meter) should read >12.4 volts. A reading of less than 12.4 volts is likely to not have enough power to start the engine, so the battery should be replaced.

Battyry prima - battery is not the problem.
The most obvious connections are cleaned, but connections often seem to be a problem on this bike.

OK, If you are interested in troubleshooting the kill switch idea maybe Charlie1Horse would be willing to give you some input. I'll watch this thread to lend a hand when I can. My kill switch has not given me any trouble.

Just a thought. but did you connect the wires for the pump and fuel gauge the right wat round ? and have you checked the fuse

If I connect 12v directly, the pump is pumping. Since Ido not know which fuses to test, I checked all the fuses in the main fuse box on left side and cleaned them. Are there more fuses? Can it have any connection whith the reverse not working?
