Re: Towbar GL1500
My guess is you are talking about a tow hitch. They attach to the rear sub frame on the 1500. Here is what one looks like.

Re: Towbar GL1500
Welcome to the forum.
I don't have the instructions but I do have photos of the trailer hitch as installed on my GL1500.
The first two show the attachment to the bottom of the tipover bars at the front of the panniers. The clamps are common type similar to those used for highway pegs or extra lights.
The other two show the rear install. There are U-clamps that go over the pannier mounting bars. These clamps are flat for the curved part, similar to clamps used on driveshaft u-joints.

Wingadmin,
Would this thread be better under the camping and trailers forum?

Re: Towbar GL1500
It depends on the hitch design. The one on my bike is different - it actually bolts directly to the main frame of the bike in two different places. It bolts to the frame at the same place as the rear crash bar (using a longer bolt), as well as higher up, as well as sistered to the subframe. I'm not sure what manufacturer it is (it was on the bike when I got it), but it is rock solid. I don't know if I would trust a trailer that is bolted to the bike using clamps, and not physically bolted to the frame like mine.
