Neutral/Reverse lights inop.

Post by Oxford Blue »

I have a 1997 GL1500. Neutral light not coming on, reverse not engaging. Fuses all OK. Relay OK. I can hear the micro switch click when reverse is selected. Any advice welcome. All was OK until this week, I used reverse then rode a few miles but did not notice the neutral light on when I parked up. Since then bike will not crank.

The common thing between neutral and reverse light is the reverse switch, located behind left fairing cover, you may try to move the reverse lever several times, it may make the switch loose and back to work.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Mario, that pretty much confirms what I suspect. I have operated the reverse leave a number of time & also sprayed with contact cleaner. New switch ordered so now I can start stripping out.

Mario. Thanks again. New switch arrived and fitted. Bike all back together ready to resume action.
