wiring fuse block on gl1500
wiring fuse block on gl1500
Hi, I plan to add usb ports, LED marker lights, trailer with lights, LED light in my gl1500 trunk, gps, and usb for passenger. I have fuse block already (6 slots). Can I use 16 gauge wire or do i have to use 18?

Welcome to the forum. Where are you from?
Sorry to say that you have not asked the correct question(s).
Bigger electrical loads are measured in higher numbers, e.g. 15 amps is a bigger load than 5 amps.
Bigger diameter cable has smaller numbers, e.g. 16 gauge is physically larger than 24 gauge.
You need to determine load or amperage of each of your new additions. Then select fuse size and cabling to match that circuit. Then add up all the fuse values for all the new circuits to determine the size of the cable between the new panel and the battery. Always round up. Design for maximum load plus a little extra (factor of safety).

Also, do you have a trailer isolator? The isolator will require power from the fuse panel as you have described. But if you are just connecting the trailer harness to the existing circuits, they will not require a new fuse panel. Generally, having a trailer isolator is a better choice but you will need to add the load of every trailer light to determine the correct fuse.
You will also need to decide whether you want to have a four wire or five wire trailer harness.
