question about alternator

Post by vagent »

I just replaced the alternator on my bike. I found a small black box with 0.5uF+1.5uF 250V on it. I assume it is a capacitor, but I don't know what it's for. It was on the old wiring. Do I need this and dose anyone know what its for?

It's a noise suppressor for the radio/CB. I would leave it on.

It is a noise suppressor to keep alternator whine from coming through the radio. Seeing as how you already installed the alternator it will have to do as is. :)

Leave it on,
if you ever install a set of headphones in your helmet, you will be glad you did.
