1989 GL1500 carb float settings
I am cleaning the carbs from my 89 1500A. Cannot find the carb float setting for this year. The newer 1500s show settings of 7.5mm and 8mm depending where you look in the manual. I did see on another site a setting of 13.7mm, seems rather odd. Older GWs have this value or close to it. There have been minor carb changes in the 1500 series but I cannot find what is specified for a particular year.

I always shoot for 7.5mm but settle on the shy side of 8 and all is well.

Re: 1989 GL1500 carb float settings
I have a manual for the 1994 model, it's the only one I could find at the time for my 1992 SE. I assumed that the differences would be minimal. In the specifications section, it calls for 7.5 mm (0.3"), but in the detailed carburetor repair section it calls for 8.0 mm (0.3"). A half mm would not make a noticeable difference. This is what I used when I rebuilt my carbs, and they work well. It's possible that the other value you see (13.7) may be a measurement to a different part of the float or carb body.

I have a Honda Service manual for the 2000 model and it says the same thing.... 7.5 mm in the specification section and 8 mm when detailing how to set the float level in the repair section. I agree that .5 mm won't make any noticeable difference. That is likely about as close as you could get it anyway.fnickel wrote: ↑Wed Mar 24, 2021 8:16 am I have a manual for the 1994 model, it's the only one I could find at the time for my 1992 SE.
