i was hoping one of you guys wood know what this little thing is i got it off the line that **** from the back of the carbs,there is a water line going and **** out of the back of the carbs.. i will try to upload the pic,?

Its a thermo valve. i dont know what it for . item number 6

From the diagram it is part number 6.i am still at a lose

The thermal valve controls the amount of coolant flowing through the base of the carbs and works off of heat(thermal). The one in the pic has an end broken off.

I doubt whether you will find a new one and if you do, sit down before you see the price. :shock:

I have seen them on eBay.
I see one for a 97 Aspencade now on eBay for about $40. (Used)

I don't think the one I had on my bike as worked Ina long time .so my guestion is ? Will it run better if the water flowers threw it or if it dont .I think mine was stoped up .

My opinion is that the thermal valve only comes into play in colder weather and it should work without it as long as your not riding in colder temps. It shuts of after the motor warms up. That’s only my opinion and I’m sure others will chime in.

Will that's what I need to know .,so if I put a butterfly valve on in its place .then all I wood need to do is turn it off after warming up .or turn it
on when it warms up??

It there for a reason. The valve is open when it get hot it stops the water to flow around the carbs so it may be ok if you remove it. Personally i would repair it or replace it. But if you cant do any of them. then bye pass it

I have just looked in the manual and found this. testing the valve it will close when it reaches a tempiture of 78-82c if it closes before it reaches this replace
