My 1997 SE runs with no problems at idle and low speed. However when on the road bike has poor performance. It bucks, stumbles and looses power. Have replaced air filter, full filter, and spark plugs. When new filters were installed the bike ran great for about
100 miles then started acting up again. Carbs??

Re: Poor Performance
I would suspect the auto fuel shut off valve. It is just inside the fuel door near the fuel cap, on the right. Cyclemax of Ohio has rebuild kits I believe.

I was a 301X0 until they changed it to 328X0. Don't remember the year that was done but it didn't change anything.
So, did you take a look at the auto fuel shut off valve? You know you can bypass it to do a test.

Re: Poor Performance
Not yet will check it tomorrow. Also want to check full pump. The fuel filter had a large bubble in it.

Re: Poor Performance
A large bubble? Not in the plastic right? I think you are talking about available space in the fuel filter. It has been my experience that there fuel filter never fills up. There is always air space in the fuel filter.

Bypassed the Auto Fuel Valve. Didn’t correct the problem.

Re: Poor Performance
Perhaps you have some water in the fuel.

Re: Poor Performance
Next stop would be to check the vacuum secondaries (slides) after fuel pump output pressure test which should be 1.5psi
