New to me 2000 GL1500 Trike

Post by johnusmcret »

Well I went and did it. I had posted in the GL1800 forum about my physical challenges and sold my 2016 and bought a 2000 GL1500 with only 31K miles and with a CSC trike conversion kit. The seller was also selling his enclosed trailer. I couldn't pass it up. I am liking most everything about it even though it is an adjustment.

I have a couple questions. I want to replace headlights with LEDs. Looking from the front on either side of the headlight are two lights just inside the turn signals. I cannot find any switch to turn them on. Help?

Secondly, it looks like the bottom of my left mirror cover does not fit properly. My Clymers talks about a spring clip, but isn't very descriptive. I wonder if I am missing that clip.

TIA

John

Honda calls those position lights and they come on with the headlight, no separate switch. You can also get nice LED conversions for those lights, to match the headlights.

There are a bunch of little bits and pieces for the mirrors and their trim.

I think 24 is the piece you are looking for. It snaps the bottom of the mirror trim into a notch on the fairing and it is easily bent or broken. Or missing maybe.

If the position lights don't come on, they are most likely burned out.
Try new bulbs.

Thanks for the tips. They must be burned out. What is a good source for the exploded parts breakdown?

I put some LED position lights and running lights on mine at the same time as the LED headlights. They match the headlight color just fine. All are just plug in replacements. Here are the part # for the ones I got.

Running lights https://cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/50_wat ... /83/270155

There are several places online where you can view the exploded parts diagram. Here is one that I use a lot on the Partzilla website.
