Whats this do?

So I recently picked up a gl1500 se and was wondering what this lever do? It on the rights side under the passenger arm rest. Also why is there a large strip on red lens material that does nothing? Their is a small reflector towards the end but it looks like it should light up but doesn't. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Where are you from?

So you have an SE variant. That has the lever you are referring to and it is used to adjust the height of the passenger floorboards. The other bracket with two holes and mounted behind the antenna is to hold an aftermarket swing out passenger armrest.

The red on the panniers are originally reflectors. HONDALINE made a kit to replace them with lights but they are not well liked. The lens color fades out and they use a step down transformer which is prone to failure. Aftermarket companies made replacements in a regular 12 volt version. Read the how-to section and search through the posts because several folks have opened up the stock reflectors and added LED strips.

BTW, the side strips on the trunk are also reflectors but HONDA was smart enough to build them to accept light sockets. Easy install of aftermarket sockets and bulbs. Many guys have also just opened them and added their own LED strips.

Congratulations on your new purchase.
